Today, May 9th, 2013 is the second Global Accessibility Awareness Day, a day to get people talking, thinking, and learning about digital accessibility.
To that end, I am excited to officially announce My Blind Spot’s partnership with Intuit, Inc.
My Blind Spot has partnered with Intuit, Inc. (Nasdaq: INTU) to ensure that QuickBooks, the leading Windows-based accounting software program, is accessible and usable for those with conditions that impede them from reading text on-screen.
The partnership is presently moving through Phase 1, identifying glitches and removing any barriers that keep screen readers from properly interfacing with Quickbooks. We have a goal to launch an accessible and usable version of Quickbooks, with appropriate scripting solutions as needed, for the Fall 2013 version (QuickBooks 2014).
This is an exciting opportunity for the community, and I will be keeping you abreast of the steps moving forward as our collaboration moves toward Phase 2, Beta Testing. Those interested in taking part in our Beta Testing or in receiving updates on My Blind Spot can sign up for our newsletters at https://myblindspot.org/
Thank you for your continued patience in this regard and for your continued support in our project.
Intuit and My Blind Spot are committed to bridging the digital divide that impedes the forward progression for people of all abilities. It is our intention to ensure and develop awesome product for ALL Quickbooks consumers.
Below is a film short we produced for Intuit. We posted it on YouTube for your viewing pleasure.
